Description Technical Specs
There are definable trends today in the application of technology to genealogy. The buzzword for 2014 is SYNERGY: [Google’s definition] the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents [technology] to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. This lecture looks at the trends in technology, their applications in genealogy, and the synergy between organizations that impact the ways we’ll do genealogy in the near future. This is being broadcast live from the Orange County California Genealogical Society's 2nd Annual Genealogy Bash.

This class was presented to a live webinar (online seminar) audience on March 1, 2014. 1 hour 6 minutes.

  • An interesting and engaging speaker - and obviously VERY knowledgeable! A pleasure to listen to her. Wonderful insights into multiple areas for all of us to pursue at our own levels. Yea, Barbara!
  • As always, fantastic!! I learned a great deal about things that I thought I already knew a lot about. Thank you.

  • Ever learning. As a researcher, each webinar is essential. Thank You.
  • Fantastic presentation! So much great information!! Thank You.
  • Great down-to-earth advice and examples. Hope you can recruit her to give another webinar in the not-too-distant future.
  • Great info, great speaker, great visuals, great connection!
  • Great job with the "live" aspect--seamless.
  • I just love it. I learned a lot. This is my second webinar. It is becoming easier, I will come to more.
  • I love anything that Barbara presents. Thank you for doing a live presentation from California.
  • I'm very pleased that someone is making the effort to clarify the DNA issues, also sharing or not sharing your online family trees. Will watch the webinar again in hopes of more of it sinking in to this brain of mine!
  • Interesting and useful survey of some of the recent technology tools and features plus some of those on the near horizon.
  • She touched on my biggest pet peeve..people (not genealogists!) not sourcing their information before attaching to a tree. My ancestors have so many scrambled info attached to them. She's always a great speaker because she is clear & concise with her information.
  • Thanks, Geoff & Barbara. Special treat. This gave me a lot to think about, and some insights on doing stronger searches. I spotted some danger areas I need to avoid, and Barbara gave enough info to help me learn my way around them.
  • This being first time that I have been able to get to a live broadcast, it's even better than I hoped for. There is always something new to learn.
  • This was a really interesting presentation. I am at the level where I don't grasp everything presented, but what I learned today I can build upon tomorrow. Thanks for offering this talk to us.
  • Very interesting and a great way to spend a chilly Saturday afternoon.
  • Very interesting overview of what's going on technically in genealogy. I enjoyed it.
  • Wonderful and Excellent! Very much appreciate this help with DNA and how to use the new technology.
